We are delighted to confirm that as a school we have begun the process of training to become a Trauma Informed Practice school. Our staff are following a programme of training delivered by the children’s charity Barnardo’s to develop their understanding of childhood hardship and adversity and become trauma aware, trauma sensitive and trauma informed in how we work.
As a school we recognize that trauma can affect individuals, groups and whole communities, and by recognizing the signs, symptoms and impact of trauma in our pupils’ lives, we can help them to feel safe, secure and empowered and so have better chances to succeed.
This training will allow us to better support all children in the school, and in particular those who have experienced childhood adversity and trauma and who are vulnerable, with a wider aim of improving their future opportunities and wellbeing.
