Why do we learn physical education?
A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

Our approach
At Ark Tindal Primary Academy, we value the importance of Physical Education and recognise its role in promoting long-term, healthy lifestyles. Our curriculum is designed to ensure that all students receive high-quality PE and sport instruction. We want every student to succeed and achieve their potential by teaching PE lessons that are engaging, challenging, and accessible to everyone. Pupils will leave Ark Tindal with the flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance to play team sports and to improve on personal bests in activities such as running and swimming. We will provide them with the chance to develop values and life skills such as fairness and respect, in addition to providing them with the opportunity to compete in competitive sports.
Aims of the physical education curriculum:
- Inspire pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and a broad range of physically demanding activities
- Develop physical confidence which supports their understanding of how to lead a healthy and active lifestyle
- Through competitive sport and other activities, build character and help to embed values such as resilience, fairness and respect
