Autumn One News Catch Up
A quick round up of news from all of our Year Groups from this term.
We have been reading the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Snow White ate an apple and fell asleep. We collected apples from our playground and made apple pies. Our apple pies tasted delicious!
This half term has been very exciting for the reception children, meeting new friends and learning in different ways. The children have been reading the story of Owl Babies. The children helped Bill one of the characters look for his mummy. The children will be visiting the local library next week and will look for information books about owls.
This term, Year 1 have been focusing on feelings and emotions using the Alexis Deacon book 'Beegu'.
Our Harvest assembly was very well attended by parents and friends and the children thoroughly enjoyed putting together our Harvest story and learning new Harvest songs. As part of our investigation into Harvest the children decided they would like to collect food for people less fortunate than themselves and set about organising a collection from the whole school. This has now been delivered to our local food bank. Thank you to everyone who supported us during this project.
This term, Year 3 have been concentrating on poetry. We have created shape poems for an underwater display using kennings and rhyme.
4 Sheffield and 4 Nottingham have had a great half term. In Literacy, they have written their own dramatic scenes to add to playscripts, and in Science they have been classifying living things. Music has been really exciting this term, as the children have been taking drumming lessons - they are starting to show great rhythm!
Year 5 have settled in well. This half term we have been working hard to improve our Maths and Literacy skills. We have also had the opportunity to visit the local library and find information texts that linked to our Science topic - All about the human body. We have developed our Atlas skills and have looked at continents, oceans and countries around the world. As well as this we have enjoyed investigating 'Ultimate Questions' in Religious Education and have developed our ability to empathise with people in stories. In addition to this we have enjoyed looking at Islamic art and have worked collaboratively to create our own Islamic art montage.
On our Residential trip to Bell Heath we had a lovely time in the countryside. Everyone was so happy, they smiled all day long. When we were on this wonderful trip we did a lot of activities. Such as: on the first day we got there at 9:30 and looked around, then at 12:00 we had lunch. At first I thought it would, be boring but it was the best 3 days of my life! Mohammad Saqib 6 Cambridge.
