Year 4 visit Lunt Fort

On Monday the 8th and Tuesday the 9th of September, Year 4 had an exciting trip to Lunt Fort. They explored the fort and learnt about the Roman invasion of Britain. They learnt about a Roman soldier's living space, and tried on Roman armour. Lunt Fort holds the only known 'gyrus' (training ring for horses) in the whole Roman Empire, and Year 4 had the chance to enact a Roman Battle Drill using a 'gladius' (sword) and a 'scutum' (shield). We're looking forward to seeing some exciting pieces of writing about the Romans over the Autumn Term - we've already started picking up some Latin vocabulary!
